Ford Edge Poor Mileage
Posted 23 November 2012 - 02:04 PM
I am having terrible mileage and now have 4000km on the Edge (aka guzzler). Sticker says 6.6L /100km (HW), and 9.9L/100km (city). Well I am getting 11.9L/100km (HW) and 17.5 L/100km (city). Gulp. Dealers (x2) wont look at it until after 18000km as per Ford policy. What the hell!!
Trust me, it is not driven hard. I am so easy on this Guzzler. I drive it like an old lady.
My Mustang GT is driven hard, and I get 11.1L/100km combined!
Something is very wrong.
I feel that I have made a VERY bad mistake to buy this thing, to the point if I could return it, I would.
BTW. The sales guy thought I was kidding about the mileage.

We bought our 2013 Edge Ecoboost SEL FWD about 4 months ago trading in our 2012 Escape. The Edge is far better ride, comfort and so much quieter. That said, fuel economy is a far cry from the noted mileage of 43 MPG (Canada). So far with just over 7000kms the best we have had over a long haul with average speed of around 55MPH was a meager 30mpg. Average city/hwy is around about 25/26 mpg. I have noticed as several others have - black thick soot in the tailpipes. Our 2002 Corvette gets better mileage than the Edge - 31mpg on a trip like the one we took with the Edge. While the mileage is way off that listed on the sticker, the SUV is very enjoyable to travel with. I will wait until we have around 15 to 20,000 kms before I take this up with the Dealer and Ford Canada.
