hey guys, anyone with any towing mpg info yet. interested in info related to pullig bass boats(4500LB). WANT REAL NUMBERS NOT COMPUTER INFO
No computed mileage yet and no bass boat but did a 30 miles test with my 8,000 lb. travel trailer. 20 MPH headwinds through rolling hills with Interstate driving. Cleared computer memory at the beginning of the test, set cruise at 65 MPH and ran 15 miles with the DIC reading 7.5 MPG. Turned around resumed the cruise and reset the DIC again and averaged 12 MPG now going down wind. 30 mile average 9.75 MPG which is one to one and a half MPG better than with my previous 04 model F-150 HD. Main difference was that on the steepest of these hills in my old truck I would drop down to a unlocked TQ in 3rd gear and was pulling them in 6th gear with the EB. Wish the MPG was a little better when you have to step on it but need to remember that a travel trailer is very much like towing a brick through the wind. Not GREAT mileage for a 6 cylinder but VERY good mileage for 370 HP engine.

I'm getting 10.8 to 11 towing my 202 Champion. It's a little better with the tow haul off. Getting 18 highway at 70 to 75 non towing. Keep it under 60 and it's in the 20's. Way more powerful than my v8 gmc!

Went fishing last weekend. 600 mile round trip with 22' bluewave (4800lbs). 20 plus headwind on the way we averaged 9mpg at 75mph. on the same route back with a little tailwind averaged 10mpg at the same speeds. I have a supercrew 4x4 with the 6.5 bed, grill guard, and max trailer package with 3.73 gears. We start the trip with 1100 miles so I hope as it breaks in it'll improve a bit. Empty mileage has not been above 16 with rural/city driving. The truck has plenty of power, hard to judge against other gas engines since i downsized from a diesel.

I'm getting 13-14 mpg dependent on the weight that i'm pulling. this is going one way from delaware to nashville, tn ( not flat by any stretch of the imagination) and from nashville to detroit and back ( flatter) .
I've got no complaints whatsoever. mid teens is awesome for regular gas pulling those kinds of weights.
Next time i tow, i'll try using premium gas, as i understand the gas mileage is far better when towing heavy loads using 93 octane.

My sons coined it our "Smart-Truck." They base it on the tech package, and i agree, but based my emphasis on the transmission and secondarily the engine. I pulled my trailer, with ease, over the top of the Smokies at 5048 feet above sea level. I have attached a photo of it at Newfound Gap, for evidentiary backup!
Next week I will be seeing how it performs in Colorado. I'll at least get it above 7000ft. If that is good, I might try a 10,000ft route. I'll let you know. As a side note, when I was researching purchasing this truck, based on my 30 years as a professional pilot, I asked for a chart or some report of what altitude the Turbochargers start to drop from max pressure. My online queries were ignored and deleted from fb. A local dealer spoke with engineering and reported to me that the information I was requesting was "considered proprietary." From my perspective, I wasn't asking how the technology worked, I was asking what the performance limitation was going to be on my $45,000 purchase!

I see the mileage everyone reports while towing and think that's about one to one and a half better than my current tow rig (2K Expedition 5.4 3.73's towing 23' TT at about 5500 lbs) and it should be a whole lot easier. My last trip with the Expo pulling the trailer left me down to first gear on a few climbs at about 35 mph. If I get 9.5 and it doesn't come out of 6th then I say all is good. Heck if it has to pull some of the climbs in 4th I'll be happy. I'll be curious to see what difference I'll get with the 4.10's as well.

how did your truck pull through cottonwood pass? we just got back from Taylor Park (9-24). figured I would take my f150 next year and will be pulling 4 four wheelers. this year took a diesel f-250 king ranch.I'm leaving for Taylor Park Reservoir Park CO. tomorrow (8-5-2011) pulling a 14' trailer loaded with two four wheelers and all the necessary camping gear/food/water to sustain me, my wife and 14 year old eating machine! We will be going thru Cottonwood Pass 12400' steep and windy. My truck is a S-Crew 4X4 with 3.55 gears. I've towed my boat 6500lbs 50 miles one way to a nearby lake, and averaged 11.5 mpg, I'm hoping I will get around the same for the majority of this trip?? We will see...
My truck is a 4x4 supercrew with 3.55 gears.

Now, hookup the trailer (approximately 6000 lbs) and I'm getting in the 7s at 65mpg. Seems to improve to 9 at 55 mpg. The mileage does seem to be tweeked to 55 mpg.
Like most of you, I was hoping for better towing mileage. I was hoping for 12-14 when towing. But, I guess nothing is for free.
Certainly no power issues!!
